Microglide Skin Resurfacing System
A non-surgical, non-invasive process that offers safe and controlled skin abrasion. This procedure uses micro crystals of a high medical grade which are propelled at high speed across the skin's suface to
abrade the skin's tissue. Debris and used crystals are vacuumed into a sealed waste container and are then disposed of.
This technique, alsoknown as "The Lunch-Time Peel" by Vogue and Elle, is performed in finer spas and salons and is very quick and relatively painless.
The results are seen immediately.
The downtime is very limited as are the side effects
and the risk of contamination.
How Does It Work:
The stimulated blood flow to the surface to the skin increases oxygenation, causing an enhancement of cell renewal and collagen growth. The massaging action of the microdermabrasion treatment creates a flushing and cleansing effect below the skin surface resulting in a vibrant, healthy appearance and complexion.
Who can be treated?
All skin types benefit from microdermabrasion as well as the following abnormalities may be treated: fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), aging skin, sun-damaged skin, acne (clogged pores and scars), blemishes, dry skin, oily skin.
Am I an ideal candidate?
The ideal candidates for microdermabrasion are those people who are veryactive and prefer to avoid the longer recovery time required for laserresurfacing or for chemical peels. Other ideal candidates are those whoare sensitive to chemicals, those who are not responding well to acne medications, or those who suffer from melasma (blotches of skin
pigmentation).
How many treatments will I need?
You will be given as assessment of the area to be treated and told the
estimated number of treatments needed. Treatments are usually performed in six or more sessions with the first three treatments being performed once per week for three weeks in succession and the next three treatments at two-week intervals.
Treatments typically take 10-30 minutes depending on the area treated. A full-face may take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Maintenance treatments can be done every four to six weeks.
A more aggressive microdermabrasion treatment can be performed using the same system but at a higher setting for the treatment of post-surgical scars, acne scars and melasma (blotches of skin pigmentation).
The more aggressive treatments are performed once per week for six weeks in succession with the next six or more treatments performed one month later at two-week intervals. More aggressive treatments may take as long as an hour. Clients should comply with the maintenance program to achieve the best results.
What should I expect after each treatment?
Results are noticeable after the first treatment. Skin should appear pink with a soft texture. More aggressive treatments may leave an appearance of redness for approximately 24 hours. Some clients may experience a light peeling after the more aggressive treaments. It is recommended that you spray or mist the treated area with cool water
immediately following the treatment. It is also recommended that you go without cosmetic make up and avoid the sun for 12 hours after the treament; however, clients may apply cosmentic make up after a treament over a non-irritating moisturizer. A topical vitamin A and E may be applied sparingly after the treatment to nourish the skin. Normal activities may be resumed immediately.
